San Diego Part 3

Old Town Yesterday and Last Day Today

sunny 25 °C

Yesterday we visited the Old Town state park. A collection of old renovated buildings circa 1830s (http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=663) but converted to modern gift shops, restaurants etc. with a few museums.

There was a Wells Fargo museum which was really interesting. One of the travelling comments was, "Expect annoyance, discomfort, and some hardships. If you are disappointed, thank heaven." In every 24 hour travelling day the coach would stop only 3 times to let passengers stretch their legs. There could be up to 18 persons on the stage so you had to be "friendly" ....

We returned to our hotel complex and had a walk around the area.

We had our usual fun and frolics around the pool before another fish based evening meal, 4 in a row... I need meat tonight!

Our last day today, we have just done the laundry and we are going for a walk all around the local area. We hope to pack later this afternoon before our last visit to the pool.

Well, blog all written for this holiday.

That's all folks...!!!

San Diego part 2

2nd day of relaxing

sunny 28 °C

Our 2nd day of relaxing started with a trip to the West Coast's largest Harley Davidson dealer. There must have been over 100 brand new bikes, there were at least 3 there that I wanted to buy... never mind, keep drooling...

We were in our element

We were in our element

There were accessories, clothing, snack bar and even a tattoo parlour.

We then went to Macy's to buy a suitcase so that we could pack all of our shopping ready for home.

From there we ventured down town to the Hard Rock cafe, had some lunch and then down the next street to the Hotel. Then the trouble started on our journey back. There was an event on so many of the roads were closed and it took us 50 minutes to return to our hotel which should have been a 12 minute journey; grrrrrrrrr.

We finished the day in the hot tub and pool before an evening meal in the Bali Hai restaurant; again.

San Diego

Part 1

sunny 26 °C

We arrived at Humphrey's Half Moon Inn on 28th as we have already written. We bought a few provisions for our fridge, sat on our patio and celebrated the journey. We relaxed and "sank." We had an evening meal here in our complex, we have a 20% discount voucher on all food purchased throughout our stay here. We had a Hake dish each which was lovely.

Yesterday we went to the zoo, it's said to be one of the best in the world and we weren't disappointed. Out tickets included a bus tour and a sky chair lift across the zoo.

Start of a good day

Start of a good day

We decided to take the bus tour first because when it gets hot after midday the animals find the shade and more difficult to see. The tour lasted for 40 minutes with commentary all the way around, we weren't disappointed. Then we had a snack and a beer before taking the sky lift from the zoo entrance to the top. After that we had a good walk around.

On leaving the zoo we returned to our hotel after spending the day in full sum with temperatures in the upper 20s, we sat on our patio with a welcome cold glass of wine. We then decided to go into the communal hot tub which we had to our selves. While I was getting our cold beers from the pool bar, Sand got in the tub and called out that it was hot. Yes, she was right, it was very hot. We sat in there while we drank our cold beer and then plunged into the pool to call down and play silly fools with a beach ball. There were only 4 other people in the pool.

We ate our evening meal in Bali Hai a Polynesian restaurant a few minutes walking from our hotel. Yet again we shared another meal, a 14 oz sea bass with 2 sides.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Staggering back to our room, we sat on our patio with a night cap listening to a Latino band that was performing at our hotel's concert venue, what a great evening.

More to follow...

Oh, by the way the chick is a Pink Flamingo.
